Ninja Ranks
These used to be Different
General Info
As with the military systems in our universe, the military system of the Naruverse consists of varying ranks. The purpose of this thread is to provide general knowledge for our member base concerning this organization. This is also what you will use when filling out the 'Rank' section of the Character Application. The general military force is known as the Regular Task Force, and the 'soldiers' of this Force are known as Shinobi (or if the 'soldier' is a female, Kunoichi).
E-Rank
These shinobi are barely recognized as they are Academy Students and are more like a ninja in training. As such most of their time is spent training with their assigned teacher or mentor. There are also those who learn by themselves though this is rare as most are children and would not know where to start.
D-Rank
The lowest rank possible for those who are considered full-fledged ninja, and Some D rank shinobi may still be children once they become D ranked they are considered adults and can go with their Genin team on missions decided on by their Jounin leader. D-rank shinobi usually take on D rank missions with some of the more experienced teaming up to take on C rank missions. A D ranked mission will offer little to no chance of life-threatening danger though that is not to say that a D ranked shinobi can't end up seriously injured or even die if they underestimate their mission or carry it out recklessly.
C-Rank
Chuunin of C-rank ninja make up the bulk of the military force, and they are typically sent on C-rank and B-rank missions in which they lead teams or they are lead by B rank shinobi respectfully. The gap in skill and experience between D-rank and C-rank is second only to the gap between A-rank and S-rank and as such even an advanced D-ranked shinobi would pale in comparison to the skill and experience of a C-ranked shinobi; this isn't to say that a D-ranked shinobi has no chance to win in a fight just that due to their actual experience and training the C-ranked shinobi would have much more of an edge to win. By this point, C-ranked shinobi have a notable air of maturity about themselves, and they know how to hold their composure through most situations and circumstances. Aside from this requirement, the C-ranked shinobi are also required to display moderate levels of tactical ability and leadership skills. That being said, one is not promoted to the C-rank simply because of their power, as a fool with power is a dull sword.
B-Rank
These Shinobi are what most would refer to as "the cream of the crop". Jounin, as they are called, are few in number in comparison to the other ranks. If a staff member asks for a demotion, that right is reserved. At this point in a Shinobi has loads of experience and are able to keep their composure through all but the most unfamiliar experiences and surprises (and even then said composure can be regained relatively quickly). They serve as the leaders of the Regular Task Force, and it is required that their leadership skills are of the utmost quality. This is the highest rank that a character can be made up to and anything further has to be done ICly. Besides of course village leaders.
A-Rank and S-Rank
These Shinobi are considered by most to be the strongest within their entire continent. Because of this they are tasked with leading the hidden ninja villages of their continent. If a staff member asks for a demotion, that right is reserved. At this point in a Shinobi has loads of experience and are able to keep their composure through out anything while able to lead an entire army of shinobi. They serve as the commander in chief of the ninja village, and it is required that their leadership skills are of the utmost quality. This is the highest rank that a character can be made up to and anything further has to be done ICly. As of right now this rank can only be made as a village leader to start otherwise A rank needs to be earned ICly.
