Training & Development
Getting Stronger
General Info
In order to advance in skill here on Sengoku, one must partake in the training system, which is rather simple and easy to understand. Like most, modern Naruto sites, we work with an EXP system, meaning you gain EXP and then use it to purchase techniques. Where we differ is that we also have three other types of training methods that fall under the category of "Training Threads". These are the Solo Threads, the Group Threads, and the Special Threads. Each of these will be described in detail below, but if you still need more help understanding, you can PM a staff member. However, the EXP amount needed to purchase things will not be placed within this thread.
EXP (aka "Experience") is the numerical points that each RP'er uses to purchase techniques. Here on Sengoku, these points are not gained through regular posting and can only be gained through training threads or by completing missions. For the most part, this is the simplest method for gaining techniques, but it is also the most trivial. This is because, in order for it to be challenging, the EXP that you gain has to be relatively low, or else you would be able to purchase techniques much too quickly and much too easily. However, Those threads that become harrowing and death defy can be turned into training threads or even special threads after the fact if you believe that your character has been through enough to gain EXP.
Solo Training - Solo Training Threads are the most basic form of training thread, and they serve, primarily, as a substitute for the EXP System. For those who grow weary of the numerical values and prefer to learn techniques through good ole RP'ing, this is the method for you. When learning a technique, you can learn it by studying a scroll or by studying under a teacher. This method can also be used to create techniques if you so choose, which will also bypass having to purchase your creations. However, if you create a technique that is not registered, you will still have to register it and have it subject to review. These threads may or may not be heavily scrutinized, though this mostly depends on your rank and the rank of the technique that you want to learn.
- 10 post minimum
- 300 words per post (the word count and post are not heavily enforced so long as the post shows enough effort to actually learn what you were trying to learn)
- 5-10 bonus EXP for quality
- 5-10 bonus EXP for quantity
Group Training - Group Training Threads are a form of Normal Training Thread that is likely to be most common among low-level shinobi teams. The threads will be headed by the group leader (or the teacher or sensei), requiring that they start the thread. While these threads can be used like Normal Threads to teach the group a technique, they are most useful for gaining EXP outside of missions. The methods of teaching are limitless, ranging from things such as Tree Climbing to sparring to tactical lessons about formations. When graded by staff, we will assess the quality of the teaching from the thread leader and the quality of the learning from the group, and according to that, EXP will be awarded to all members with the addition of a group bonus.
- 5 Post Minimum (for each person involved)
- 500 Minimum Word Count
(see word count and post addendum) - 50 EXP Group Bonus
- 5-20 Bonus for Quality and/ or Quantity(Individual Basis)
Special Training Threads - Special Threads are training threads reserved for special and/or exclusive techniques as well as ranking up your specialties. This includes techniques on the Limited Jutsu List as well as the only way to learn elemental natures without buying them and taming and learning to control a tailed beast for Jinchuriki. These training threads will be the most heavily scrutinized, and they also come with the greatest requirements for completion. We expect both great quantity and quality when you pursue these threads, and as such, they are not for the faint of heart. If your thread is reviewed and it is deemed unworthy of the technique, it will be, as opposed to completely disregarded, seen as the first part of a series of training sessions that will lead up to the technique being learned. Over the course of this period, you may even receive some pointers from staff based on mistakes that we saw you make, which should, in turn, make future endeavors easier. However, simply to clarify, this is not necessary if you wish to reserve a special technique or a teachable ability; it is only necessary if you wish to learn it from the RP'er who has reserved it. With their permission and help of course.
- 10 Minimum Post Count
- 1000 Minimum Word Count
(see addendum) - 30 - 70 EXP Bonus for Exceeding Word Count
- 5 - 30 EXP Bonus for Quality
