Hayato began his life as the only son of Hideki Date and Rukia Date nee Kuchiki. He lived his life in a huge shadow from the very beginning, due to his father being a major player, he was blessed with an amazing physique and an aptitude for learning jutsu easily, becoming a master swordsman by the time he was 13 (also when he became an elite shinobi). His mother was no slouch either as she was a top-notch elite shinobi who specialized in poisons (She became elite at age 15). It was these two “gods among mortals” that he had to live up to his whole life, and those two were the hardest on him by far. His parents were known throughout the country as the prodigies that were ice cold. They did not warm up to even their own kin if anything it just made them that much colder.
The two of them actually decided to have Hayato rather early; they met after Rukia became recognized as an elite which was two years after Hideki (making them the same age). It was love at first sight though love in a way that isn’t normal for other people, where others would go on dates, kiss, and cuddle they would train, spar, and beat the hell out of each other. Only a few months later (the two being only 16) Rukia went on maternity leave from being a ninja. However, the maternity leave did not last long as after three years she was back to being a ninja (it was only after two that she started training again).
The father who had the dark hair and eyes was disappointed that his son looked more like its mother, that is too say he was born with the same bright blonde hair and dazzlingly yellow-green eyes. His mother who was extremely pale was glad that he inherited his father’s slightly tanned skin tone. His parents who were determined to have a shinobi son greater than them both put him to work almost immediately, his mother while staying home refused to let him play with any toys instead as an infant he played with dull kunai and shuriken, she would also categorize and mix her poisons while speaking out loud hoping that his sponge-like brain would absorb the information. His father also taught him to play with a wooden sword as an infant, often scalding him for holding it wrong or using it more like a toy then a device for war, this all culminated on his third birthday when his parents decided that he could pretty much take care of himself and his mother went back to being a ninja. Hayato was a bright child who begun speaking at around one and a half years old (to which his parents responded with an about time), at three he had memorized most of his mother’s poisons and their effects and about 25% of his father’s swordsmanship (to which his parents commented he should have come up with his own by now, and he should know more it’s been three entire years respectively), but on his sixth birthday, a year after the creation of kirigakure, they gave him a choice that no child should ever have to choose from.
His parents walked in his father holding a huge a forehead protector for the newly created ninja village, his mother stood close by the door holding it open. His mother spoke first assuring him that no matter what they would still love and care for him. His father spoke next telling him that this was a household of shinobi and if he wanted to be a part of it then he would need to devote himself entirely to becoming a shinobi or he could leave. They spoke to the boy telling him that he needed to make his decision and that they would not make that choice for him, it was his decision, however, he needed to know that his decision had consequences. The choice was a complicated one especially for a child, either chose the ninja life and become a shinobi nothing more or choose a different path and be dropped in an orphanage and hope to be adopted someday, while his parents made it clear they would not love him any less and that they would always be a part of his life even if they were not raising him they would be I his life more if he were to become a shinobi needless to say he chose the shinobi life. Not for fully understanding the weight of the decision but because his toys up until this point resembled weapons, that plus the fact that his parents were ninjas and everyone he knew was also ninja made him want to be one as well.
This was the moment that Hayato decided that he would not need love in his life and would vie for the attention of his parents through becoming the shinobi they wanted, He would forsake love and being their son, he would no longer look for love, he would seek the importance of his worth through the admiration of being a prodigy. At only five years old he decided to become the cold-hearted progeny of his cold and stern parents, however, things did not go as he planned. His training was extremely harsh and almost cruel, and he became a POME (product of my environment) he became cold and stern and overly rationale. Although he took his training silently and strongly his parents never praised him, when asked why they did not they told him that a true shinobi does not look for any praise they just do.
His parents did not do much for him in terms of actually being parents; although they made sure he was fed and clothed as well making sure he had a place to sleep every night besides that everything was about becoming a ninja. As his parents, they neglected him almost completely to the point where it was almost criminal, however, this all changed when they begin to train him, the amount of attention they paid to the boy then was unreal nitpicking over his stances and movements. At only five years old he became the first registered Genin of Kirigakure. The amount of pressure they placed on this small boy was crazy and most full grown ninja would have had a mental breakdown being submitted to this kind of undying attention to detail during training however this was all that Hayato knew.
By the time he was eight years old, he had already made it to being apart of the first graduating group of genin to be promoted to chuunin. It wasn’t anything as exciting as a chuunin exam he preformed as his group leader thought was befitting a chuunin so he was promoted. As a chuunin he was stationed as a gate guard which makes it almost impossible to rank up. He wasted years of his life as a gate guard mainly because they didn't want to trust someone so young with anything else.
However, by the time he turned fifteen the first shinobi world war began, he was being deployed into a real battle and it was his time to shine. Although it started as just Iwa vs Konoha it was not long before sides were chosen. Other shinobi villages are dragged into the war within the next four months with many of them trying to take advantage of the distracted Konoha and Iwa. (Suna + Kusa + Yuki + Konoha vs. Kiri + Taki + Hoshi + Yu vs. Ame + Iwa + Kumo.). Though in actuality it was a free for all as shinobi within the alliances began infighting and falling out With each other. Because of this, the members of the ninja villages had to push their children into being shinobi much faster than normal. Within a year he was able to begin going on missions for the war where he was expected to battle. He was sent out in a team but still someone of his age being sent to battle was rare though not unheard of, making it not enough for Hayato he needed more, so he decided that he would take matters into his own hands and as such he would wait until he heard of a mission that would take those involved to the front line and would just follow them to the front line. This was when he first saw battle and reveled in it his ability to fight was unheard of especially for someone of his age. It was because of his strength in the fight that the Kiri forces were able to shine and were the reason for the victory.
Throughout the rest of the war, he was given special permission to fight on the front line. By the time he was twenty years old, the first war was over and he was able to make quite a name for himself on the battlefield despite his young age his knowledge of battle was instinctual and he had even begun creating his own fighting style. Although the war ended in a draw and every village felt debilitating morale issues Hayato felt invigorated he loved war and could not wait for another battle. He would spend his time training his new fighting style and keeping his wits sharp, this was also when he begun to train his own personal summoning and began working with it to integrate it into his fighting style, He kept his skill sharp and went on several missions for the village in order to make sure that when war happened again he would be ready. He did not get the chance to fight in another war until he was forty years old.
War begins again and Hayato was sent straight to the front lines and he could not be more happy about it, This was when he began to gain notoriety throughout the world as one of the most fearsome warriors in any country, He fought fiercely in every battle that he was in and came away with very little injuries and showed skill that rivaled even the shinobi referred to as kage. However, because of his bloodthirsty and fight-first mentality, no one trusted him to lead, because they believed that he would rush head long into battle and leave his troops leaderless.
This war went on for years and Hayato stayed on the front line the whole time, loving every minute of it. He was just starting to show off his ability as a leader when the gokage decided to descend into the war. Although he was not a kage many believed him to be stronger than the shodai mizukage and the only reason he was passed up on the offer was because they were afraid that he would be too reckless to be a leader. After 24hrs of continuous fighting one of the kage died in battle it was the Mizukage and this caused Hayato to fly into a fit of anger. He jumped into the fight and beat back the reaming four kage, although they were already tired the fact that he was fighting all four of them at once was impressive. Even more so because he did not get injured. It was this fight that gave him the nickname invincible superman though whenever he speaks on this fight he calls it one of his biggest failures because he was unable to kill one of the kage. This brought all the fighting to an end in a rickety peace treaty and Hayato was upset he was loving the fighting and the battle but knew in his heart that the shaky peace treaty would never hold and that it was only a matter of time before the war would begin again. Having shown his might as well as his ability to lead he was made the Nidame Mizukage.
His first few years of being a kage he focused on genin and even became the jounin leader of a few genin teams. This was so that he could personally teach each of the new generations the fine art of waging and winning wars. He did a splendid job of teaching his genin and it only took about six months for him to train his genin into becoming top class chuunin, although his training methods were dangerous and incredibly hurty his students seemed to like him and he liked them as well. It did not last long however as after ten years of shaky peace it was broken and the third great shinobi world war began. This war was one of Hayato's favorites As he was able to command his village while also saving the good fights for himself, he even got to fight alongside other kage for the first time as the war was against minor nations. However, toward the end of the war, their was a battle that needed to be taken that was considered to be a suicide mission that no one wanted to take. Hayato of course volunteered and let it be known that he was more than happy to take care of the fight by himself. Because of the nature of the fight many of his troops backed out and he was left with only a handful of people to fight with yet this did not bother him. The task was not to win the battle but to last long enough for another squad to attack a weakened base as the troops from the base would attack Hayato's troop.
The fight lasted for various hours and after the first two hours the rest of his troop died and he was left by himself. Hayato fought valiantly by himself but there were many times where he thought he was done for. He fought onward no matter what happened to him. Pushing forward through 465 wounds many of which were thought to be fatal. including one that made it seem as if a large part of the left side of his head was missing (though it was not missing his skull had cracked and the side of his head was indented). He managed to kill the entire platoon although the injures were too much and he ended up in a healing coma standing up amongst all the dead bodies. This is how his nickname of the invincible superman became a worldwide alias as those who came to collect him noted that this was a feat that only someone truly invincible could pull off.
He spent the last months of the war in a coma and when he got out he spent about five years in physical therapy before he was reinstated his position of kage being taking up by a council of the Head Jounin, ANBU Leader, Navy Leader, Hunter Nin Leader, and the Head Medic. In the eight years or so since he has trained various genin to become great and has no intention of retiring as he wishes to die in a great battle and not in some building being taken care of and forgotten about. He has lost several steps in his old age but he is still quite formidable and has quite a lot of sway in his village. While politics was never for him and he tries to stay out of it he will always do what is right by his village.
